Blood Tests

For all routine blood tests please book here at Arden Medical centre.

  • Children 12 & over can be bled at Solihull Hospital, they do not need to go to Heartlands.
  • Children under 12 must attend the Paediatric Phlebotomy room. This is now located in the Children’s’ Outpatients Department/ Child Development Centre at Heartlands Hospital, not Ward 14. Currently, we are trying to set a formal booking system for children attending. At present parents can call 0121 424 1528 and a staff member will allocate them a 15 minute slot, however we also have urgent patients arriving so there can sometimes be a delay. The line is also extremely busy, so parents will need to be patient.
  • Children requiring urgent bloods can attend as walk–ins, but this should be for urgent samples only & under direction of the clinician. The department can be very busy & we are trying to discourage unplanned attendances.

Should a Clinician at the hospital ask you to have a blood test, you should attend the hospital for this, as our phlebotomy service at the Practice has only been commissioned for GP routine blood tests.

Please phone the surgery 7 days after having your test (after 10.00am) for your results.
